I presented my finished
project drawings to Bob Krikac who is a faculty in interior design program in
Washington State University. I re-drew some of my drawings in order to provide
better versions and communicate my ideas better.
The presentation was taken place in
Carpenter 114 in Pullman, Washington, which is a studio for sophomore interior
design students. I started to tell Professor Krikac my inspiration of “idea of
home” first, and then I showed him my parti and my concept model. Next, I
showed him my floor plan that I re-designed a fully ADA accessible room for
Besse’s family. I introduced the place of each room first and then I show the
perspectives and elevations of those rooms in order to communicate my idea in
further. Professor Krikac listened my presentation and he gave me a lot of
feedback and I divide them into three categories. Firstly, he said that there
were some wrong dimensions that I need to take care of such like a sofa bed in
an office would block the doorway if is open. I just considered the sofa bed
folded so I thought the dimension was fine. Secondly, Professor Krikac said
that I needed to add more things to my design in order to make it interesting
and cool. He thought that my overall design is a little bit boring. Finally, he
mentioned that I should always relate my concept of “idea of home” to the
design for Besse’s residence.
The experience of meeting with a professional designer was really
meaningful and educational. It made me feel that there are still a lot more
skills and knowledge that I need to learn. I believe I will try my best in
order to be a mature and skilled designer.
